On The Medical Times We Live In
Every one desires to live long, but no one would be old. -Abraham Lincoln
If you have not realized it yet, a revolution in coming. This revolution is not with guns and bombs but it’s a revolution of technology which i have mentioned, and medical science. Today, let’s discuss the medical science aspect.
Stems cells are the promise of the future, or are they? They provided amazing abilities and many of the claims that have gone to stem cells are well proven, but like all things, there are more than one way to skin a cat, or regrow a finger. Infact, it seems the lowly pig may indeed save us all. One of the promises of stem cells is to grow our own organs from our selves. Well according to the BBC only a pigs bladder will do. They even think it can be used on burn victims, or those that have lost a missing limb. The questions i have, the questions we all have!
What about Cancer? Well John Kanzius may have licked it. John, who has cancer, decided that he could do better and so built a machine in his garage, and yes, it works. It involves injecting the subject with nano particles then using radio frequency waves attuned to the particles to knock out the cells. This is not the first time that attuning frequency to certain cells have been used to kill cancer. A Femtosecond Laser can achieve the same thing, without the injection (but i think with the opening of the body cavity). You can also use it to bound things including metal to bone and have the bone still living. The Femtosecond Laser also works great for teeth because it only destroys decay not the tooth. But why bother with that? Let’s just regrow the tooth. Sure it’s a decade away in development, but man, it’s good to be 50 and not needing to actually get a root canal, or a crown replacement. The Older generation will pay for that i bet!
Doctors are doing amazing things, with the antioxidants found in wine, (that’s now been isolated) in green tea (ecgc here i come) and the long life gene switch that starving cells turn on. Official term, Calorie Restriction.
Ahh the mysteries yet to uncover, oh what strange new world. I find it amazing what humans can do, and that two people can invent the telephone at the same time. But that’s not so odd in nature. Many times different genes work to produce the same result in a human, like saliva production or red hair. Even as we kill ourselves with toxin in the air and give ourselves brain cancer with out cell phones, at least now we can cure it…, maybe.
It’s good to know we’ll be nice and health when our robot overlords enslave us. But that is for another day.
