Now how on earth am I going to wear my mail-order mouse-fur jacket if they won’t let it grow big enough to fit me? I suppose the matching chaps and the dolphin-skin gloves are going to be on back order as well. Oh when, oh when will personal fashion finally stop taking a backseat to “ethics” and “morality”.

Now that’s an interesting point. The Ethics and Morality of using a mouses stem cell? or wearing Animals? or just the general “let’s not turn the planet into liquid lava?

I don’t even know what to say about this story. I’m all for BIO technology, but does this story not strike you as intensely creepy? Why am i even writing about this? I am a man of science. I really enjoy it and as stated previously, where we are going with bio technology and medical science is not only amazing to me, but rather welcome. However it’s things like this that keep me up at night.

For those that did not want to click on the link, researchers grew a tiny jacket (yes, a piece of clothing) from mouse stem cells, but it grew too big and they had to kill it. That sentence, that explanation is simple ludicrous and something no one should have ever said. yet, there it is. A commenter (Dusty butt)summed it up quite well.

OK…

They grew a little tiny jacket…

In a lab vessel…

It grew too large for its container… This little tiny, moist, growing jacket…

WHAT IN THE FUCK IS GOING ON IN HERE?!!!!!?

Yes. What the hell is going on? It’s not the first time things like this have happened, nor do i suspect is the last time. Do you know when they were doing Atomic Testing, they thought they were going to set the atmosphere on fire? Yet they did the tests anyway. They have built a machine in Europe (A Large Hadron Collider) to simulate what the universe was like just seconds after the big bang.., that they are pretty sure will not cause a blackhole when turned on. I guess i should be glad they are pretty sure, instead of kinda suree

Now, i’m Seriously, one for science and scientific testing but scientists aren’t known for their ability NOT to do something. And really, 99.9% of the scientiest believe us creating a black hole is ridiculous. I think it’s pretty ridiculous. Still…, i look at the story about the living Jacket and not only shake my head, but slightly quiver in fear.

We have no need for cyclones, tornadoes or earthquakes or large asteroids; We really are going to kill ourselves.
