The Perfect Storm

We can succeed only by concert. It is not “can any of us imagine better?” but, “can we all do better?”

The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.

Abraham Lincoln, Annual Message to Congress
Washington, D.C.
December 1, 1862

What are we about?

The Stormy Present is an editorial site dedicated to the advancement of conversation in a relaxed environment, not a blog (per say). It is first, an intellectual exorcise of its’ authors, meant to provoke thought and commentary; It second, a social project on the present state of religion, photography, science, television, corporate social responsibility and leadership, politics and anything else we believe you would find at a dinner party in a relaxed environment.

The authors are distinct people with something to say to a world drowning in the Vast Ocean of the Digital Web(3.14159)…., where the spark of intelligence has dimmed so grimly, even the bulb needs shining. It is said, just before we die, everything becomes clear and all truths are revealed; so we here at Oceans Of Thought throw our own voice to the drowning, hoping someone swims towards us.

We also believe that every person is a world of ideas, and we hope to coalesce these thoughts, opinions, judgments, and belief into a galaxy of thoughts to form a universe of scholarly commentary.

We shall therefore decry the use of  general misleading “truthiness” and try not to traffic in double think or double speak. We don’t pretend to be the guardians of simple discourse, but we do believe it is time to have real conversations on topics of everyday and not so everyday interest.

We have therefore collected contributions to facilitate our goals. On this site you shall find observations, theories, musing and conjectures, all of which we hope shall spark an idea in your mind, and carry the conversation forward. We speak our own truth which sometimes reflects others and we profess the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train; but perhaps it maybe indeed too late to save anyone. The commentators on this site are examining the uncertain future the lens of the stormy present.  Debate is valued; an open mind is a must.

We also aim to post when we can, but weekend posts are rare or a bonus.

Pull up a chair.

Relax.

Think.
