On the Coming Change in America

Commentary Comments Off on On the Coming Change in America

In great contests each party claims to act in accordance with the will of God…. God’s purpose is something different from the purpose of either party – and yet the human instrumentalities, working just as they do, are of the best adaptation to effect His purpose. – Abraham Lincoln

My My, how our country has changed. And yes, it has. I recently spoke about what a good time it was to be around, thou, i’d need 20 more years for it all to sink in, and tell kids just what then hell is going on. I don’t even understand it myself sometimes.

Who would have thought, after Mississippi Burning, Brown vs Education and the LA riots we’d be here so soon. Where are we you ask, well, here is a good phrase I picked up from an article.

[Senator Obama is] a 47-year-old black man with a foreign-sounding name who went to Harvard and thinks devotion to your country and lapel pins aren’t the same thing and [is] in a statistical tie with a war hero and a Cinemax heroine. To these aged eyes, Senator, that’s what progress looks like.

It had to change of course, It must always. There were the Irish, who were considered a minority in NY for a long time, then the Mexicans and that California thing, but eventually, each group makes it’s inroads. Hate can last a long time, but it can’t last forever, not universally. Well, except if your Jewish or Gypsy. (the two groups that have repeatedly been target for mass extermination over and over in every era)
I flow off topic. What I am saying is that we should celebrate the wins, the 6 million cracks in both Affirmative action and the Glass Ceiling. Baring a extinction level event, we are set to move forward as a society, as a nation, and as humans.
That’s the change I see.
