The group I don’t get (and likely never will) is smokers. the smelly clothes and hair, the yellow teeth, the grimey layer on everything in their home, the cancer/emphazema, and the adament belief that polluting my air is their personal right. ugh.

On Just Not Getting It

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. -Abraham Lincoln

A recent article in the times talked about “the less rich.” Those who net worth changed from 20 to 8 million, or who have to live with one less zero on a 7 figure bank account. As with us “poor” It’s all about appearances, and these people are truly terrified of either a spouse leaving, being snubbed at a country club or their children not being invited to the right birthday parties.

Seriously?

I know, in my heart, the article is trying to state that we all have problems, and for our necessary consumption levels, be it 1000 a month, or 1Mill, we have problems affording the things we do, yet, my ability to relate seems to hit the cold, dead calculation of reason. 1 million reasons

Thou, the problem of not relating seems be prevalent in our daily lives. Single people don’t relate well to Married people, and even less so when the married people are actually friendly. Then, there is the third wheel factor. I shouldn’t say married really, couples. Couples together.

There are other things. Children. If you don’t have any, stories of firsts this or that are just stories and never seem to grab the same way.

Even activities play a part. The Golfing Crowd vs The Tennis Crowd. The Bar Crowd vs the Club Crowd. I wonder if everything we do in our lives involve groups, or methods of inclusions and exclusions?

Alas, I don’t want to drift, because this editorial is about not getting it, whatever it is, that something that is truly un-understandable to someone who has not experienced it…. the rich are less rich.

I think my mom still hides money under the mattress.  I have no sympathy for those who have it (money, fame, etc) and cry about not having MORE!  Who hasn’t played the lotto game “what would i do with 1 Million Dollars?” We all can find ways to save parse it, and live well with such paltry means.

Yeah, I still don’t get it.
